SUMMARY: The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is planning to move from its current building on Woodrow Wilson, which has severe foundation issues, asbestos problems, and gas leaks, to a new site in Pearl. The existing headquarters, built in 1976, needs to be demolished, and the land may be sold for redevelopment. The new DPS site will consolidate all divisions under one roof for the first time, with costs now between $65 and $70 million. The timeline for the new building's completion has shifted to late summer or early fall of 2025. The state is considering commercial development for the vacated site.

SUMMARY: The recent expansion of the First Choice Bank Gateway Pavilion in Pontitalk has enlarged the roof space by 50%, enabling the city to host more events, including their summer concert series, festivals, and weddings. The improvement offers more room to accommodate various activities. Local musicians also benefit from the expansion, as they perform free weekly concerts for the public at the pavilion.
A recent expansion will allow the city of Pontotoc to host more events.
SUMMARY: Summer is an ideal time to adopt a dog or cat and provide them a forever home. Chris Menard, a volunteer at Tupelo-Lee Humane Society, introduces Zane, a dog who's been in foster care since March. Zane is housebroken, gets along with other dogs, and loves people. However, he has a mutual disinterest with cats. Zane is healthy, groomed, and free of heartworms, showcasing the positive impact of fostering. The shelter encourages fostering and invites people to meet Zane. They appreciate community support and offer to arrange a meet and greet with Zane's foster family.
