The project, recently approved, faces opposition from over 1,200 residents who claim inadequate public consultation and insufficient zoning regulations. Protesters, including Allison Lauderdale, criticized elected officials for their handling of the project. Conversely, Apex Clean Energy's Brian O'Shea highlighted the project's economic benefits, including $150 million in new local tax revenue and construction jobs. More than 1,000 residents have signed a petition for a one-year moratorium.

SUMMARY: In Meridian, the temporary fencing around City Hall has been removed. Precision Fencing employees took down the galvanized fences on Tuesday afternoon. Initially, mesh fencing was installed early in 2023 for an exterior repair project involving the building's windows, walls, and roof. The galvanized fencing replaced the mesh in February to allow workers to complete the repairs. Now that the project is finished, the front entrance of City Hall will reopen to the public starting Wednesday.

On Tuesday afternoon, employees from Precision Fencing removed the fence from the front of the entrances after months of renovating the building.
