1 woman killed, 1 woman injured in Hazlehurst shooting
SUMMARY: Hazlehurst, Miss. (WJTV) – Hazlehurst police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred around 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, on Stowell Street. One victim, 22-year-old Elexus Joiner, was shot multiple times and died at a Copiah County hospital. Another woman, Clarissa Belton, was critically injured and airlifted to the University for Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson; she is in stable condition. The suspect, 32-year-old Fredrequez Gary, was arrested early Friday and charged with murder. Investigators report the shooting stemmed from a domestic-related dispute.

MHP announces 2024 Independence Day Enforcement Period
