IRS offering tax relief for Mississippians impacted by April storms

SUMMARY: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is providing tax relief for Mississippi and businesses affected by severe storms from April 8-11. a disaster declaration by FEMA, individuals in Hancock, Hinds, Humphreys, , Neshoba, and Scott counties are eligible for this relief. The IRS has extended certain tax filing and payment deadlines to November 1, individual income tax returns and quarterly estimated tax payments. Penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due between April 8-23 will be waived if paid by April 23. Taxpayers outside the affected area can request relief via the IRS disaster hotline or through bulk requests on IRS.gov.

Mark Kleinpeter from Gautier set the record for Permit with an 11-pound, 11.2-ounce fish using a spear on May 29, breaking Sean Cook's 2020 record.
