SUMMARY: We are in hurricane season, and there are two areas of interest in the tropics. One in the Caribbean has a low chance of developing due to wind shear; it's currently near the Central American coast. The second area, south and west of the Cabo Verde Islands, shows a higher potential for development over the next week due to favorable conditions. This system may move west and possibly turn northwest as it nears Cuba or Hispaniola, where warm waters could fuel its growth. Locally, an upper-level low is causing intermittent showers, with the possibility of more scattered showers through Friday. Temperatures are set to rise, reaching the 90s with heat index values over 100 by the weekend.
