Not as hot Thursday, isolated showers continue – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: COLUMBUS, Mississippi (WCBI) – The intense heat takes a brief break on Thursday before returning for the weekend. Thursday will see variably cloudy skies and spotty showers due to weak low pressure over central Alabama, with highs in the upper 80s. By Friday, the heat returns with highs in the lower to middle 90s and heat indices over 100°, along with possible pop-up showers. The weekend brings more heat and humidity with highs in the mid-90s and heat indices up to 105°, along with isolated showers and potentially more storms by Sunday PM. Next week, the heat persists with highs nearing 100 degrees by Tuesday or Wednesday.

SUMMARY: Chuck Box, a Columbus native, was appointed as Texas baseball's director of program development. Previously, he held the same position at Texas A&M for three years, following head coach Jim Schlossnagle from College Station to Austin. Box's tenure at Texas A&M saw the Aggies reach the College World Series twice in three seasons, including a recent championship series appearance, where they lost to Tennessee. Before joining the SEC, Box coached Jackson Prep and Hartfield Academy for 16 seasons and served as the head coach at ICC from 1998 to 2002.
