SUMMARY: The Mississippi Lottery is debuting the $1 Lottery Ticket on July 2, offering prizes up to $5,000. Also new are the $5 Big Money Bingo with up to $75,000 in prizes, and the $2 It Takes 2 with prizes up to $20,000. As part of the Summer of Fun 2024 promotion, the sixth of 15 drawings features a 20-foot Sun Tracker Pontoon boat and other prizes. The Lottery headquarters will close on July 4 for Independence Day. Current jackpots include $97 million for Mega Millions, $70,000 for Mississippi Match 5, and $95 million for Powerball.

Emergency motion judgment filed against Dau Mabil’s wife

SUMMARY: In Jackson, Mississippi, Bul Mabil filed an emergency motion against Karissa Bowley, widow of his brother Dau Mabil, who was found deceased in the Pearl River in April 2024 after disappearing in March. Bul seeks an independent autopsy by a selected doctor, Dr. Matthias Okoye, whom Bowley rejects. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner's Office determined Dau's cause of death as drowning but left the manner of death undetermined. No external trauma was found, but ethanol was detected in the postmortem toxicological analysis. Brandon now home to Entergy’s EV fast chargers

SUMMARY: Entergy Mississippi has installed a $350,000 direct current electric vehicle (EV) fast charging station in downtown Brandon, near Interstate 20. The facility, ready in time for the busy Fourth of July travel period, aims to serve both local residents and travelers on I-20 and I-55. The station features two fast chargers with a capacity of up to 180 kilowatts, compatible with various EV models, allowing a full charge for $20-$30 within 30-45 minutes. This installation, along with one in Ridgeland, enables Entergy to study EV impacts on the power grid and plan future infrastructure. Brandon Mayor Butch Lee welcomes the initiative.
