Man dies after being shot inside vehicle in Edwards
SUMMARY: Edwards, Mississippi police are investigating a fatal shooting of 21-year-old D'Aaron Kortez Carter. The incident occurred on Willie V. Crump Lane after 11:00 p.m. Carter was shot inside a vehicle and later transported to a Warren County hospital by a private vehicle, where he succumbed to his injuries. According to Police Chief Terence Crump, Carter was a passenger in a car targeted by three suspects who fired multiple rounds, though no other occupants were injured. At present, there are no suspects, and investigators are working to determine the motive behind the shooting.

Livingston development moves forward after heated discussion

1 arrested, 1 wanted for shoplifting at Byram Walmart
SUMMARY: Byram police arrested Shanequia Harvey and are searching for Deneshia Harvey, who allegedly shoplifted nearly $2,000 worth of items from Walmart. Alerted by employees on July 1, officers tracked the suspects' vehicle to a local fireworks stand. Shanequia was arrested with more than $1,900 of stolen goods, including lawn equipment and clothes. Deneshia, also known as “Lit Bit,” evaded capture. Both are linked to multiple shoplifting incidents in the area and have outstanding felony warrants. New leadership named for the Jackson City Council
SUMMARY: The Jackson City Council has new leadership with Councilwoman Virgi Lindsay of Ward 7 named president and Councilman Brian Grizzell of Ward 4 named vice president, starting July 2. They will serve in these roles for the next year. Former Council President Aaron Banks initially nominated Councilwoman Angelique Lee of Ward 2 for the presidency, but she declined. Lee had previously served as vice president.
