Jackson DUI suspect wants evidence thrown out in case
SUMMARY: Jada Kelly, accused of killing two people in a DUI crash in Jackson last year, is seeking to suppress evidence of her alleged intoxication. Her lawyer claims the breathalyzer test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 0.18 (legal limit is 0.08), is unreliable and that Kelly wasn't properly informed of her right to refuse the test. The fatal crash occurred around 3 A.M. on January 15, 2023, at the intersection of Interstate 55 North Frontage Road and Canton Mart Road, resulting in the deaths of 46-year-old Azer Higgins and 43-year-old Valerie Lynch. Kelly faces charges of aggravated DUI.

SUMMARY: Hurricane Barrel is rewriting history as one of the strongest hurricanes east of the Lesser Antilles, making landfall in the Windward Islands. Now a Category 5 hurricane with 160 mph winds, it's moving West Northwest and expected to impact Jamaica midweek. High pressure may weaken it as it heads towards the Central and Northwestern Caribbean, potentially affecting the Yucatan, then turning North. Texas and Louisiana should monitor it closely. Meanwhile, heat waves continue with record-challenging temperatures in Meridian, up to 110°F with humidity. Rain relief is expected by Wednesday. July averages include over 5 inches of rain and highs around 94°F.
The 1st week of July will be hotter than average
