The ‘W’ hosts first ever Black men’s mental health conference
SUMMARY: Camillia Harris founded the “Justus” Mental Health Foundation after losing her father to suicide in 2019. Her foundation aims to provide Black men with a safe space to discuss mental health. A recent conference at Mississippi University for Women featured speakers like Daniel Huggins and Dr. Reggielond Taylor, who emphasized the importance of mental health awareness and community support. Harris and other attendees, including mental health counselor Kawaski Owens, highlighted the need to break societal stigmas that discourage men from expressing their emotions. Harris plans to continue organizing similar conferences nationwide to encourage open dialogue and mental well-being.
