SAMS NEW AI TECH
SUMMARY: Sam's Club in Meridian has implemented a new AI-powered camera system to streamline the checkout process, making it one of the first in the state to do so. Traditionally, associates check receipts at the exit, causing delays and member complaints. The new technology, launched in January, scans receipts and items in the cart, reducing member wait times and increasing interaction efficiency. The system can identify items down to a square inch of packaging, aiming to save time and minimize shoplifting. A News 11 test showed the system successfully detected purchased and non-receipted items, proving its effectiveness during peak hours.
