Fourth teen arrested in shooting death of USM football player
SUMMARY: A fourth teenager, Nytavion Shaw, 16, has been arrested and charged as an adult for capital murder and attempted carjacking in connection to the shooting death of Southern Miss football player Marcus “MJ” Daniels Jr. Shaw was booked into Forrest County Jail. Previously, three other teens, Orlando May, 18, Allen Gardner, 17, and Samir Green, 16, were also arrested and denied bond for capital murder, each receiving a $100,000 bond for attempted armed carjacking. Daniels, 21, was found shot in a vehicle at Ivy Row Apartments on June 11. A visitation and funeral service for Daniels are scheduled for June 22.

Wade, hit by a Jackson police cruiser in March 2023, was later found in a pauper’s grave in Hinds County, and his mother, Bettersten Wade, was unaware of his death until August 2023. She believes his death was covered up. No arrests have been made, and authorities consider it an accident.
