Aberdeen looks to be next north Mississippi city with solar farm
SUMMARY: The city of Aberdeen is considering clean energy initiatives, having recently approved a plan to develop a solar farm at Stinson Industrial Park. This project aims to produce green energy to supplement electricity from the Tennessee Valley Authority. The solar farm could qualify Aberdeen for federal grants, funding repairs for the Inland port on the Tombigbee River, which is a significant revenue source. Additionally, the energy could be sold to local buyers, such as Westlake Chemical, potentially generating around $200,000 annually. Although still in its early stages, the project is being reviewed for environmental impact, inspired by a successful similar initiative in Water Valley.
A new plant could be coming to Aberdeen, bringing in green energy and the chance for grants.
