Bob Gholson sworn-in as Forrest Co. District 1 Justice Court Judge
SUMMARY: The Forest County Board of Supervisors has appointed Bob Goson as the new Justice Court Judge, filling a vacancy in District One. Previously a lawyer for 43 years and USM's general counsel, Goson has also worked as a special master, enhancing his judicial experience. Get great deals for a great cause at 'Rummage for Recovery' fundraiser
SUMMARY: This weekend, Pine residents have the chance to support their community through the second annual Rummage for Recovery sale, organized by Shay Smith with Renters for Recovery at Interlude House for Women. The event will be held at Carterville Baptist Church in Petal and aims to gather funds for the newly opened women's recovery home. Services provided include counseling, transportation, job assistance, and financial education. The event promises a large rummage sale, bake sale, face painting, and balloon animals for kids. In case of rain, updates will be shared on Facebook. The sale starts at 7 AM and ends at 2 PM.
Renters for Recovery will hold their annual rummage sale fundraiser at Carterville Baptist Church on Saturday.

Petal Fire Department names new assistant fire chief
SUMMARY: The Pedal Fire Department has appointed Will Lewis as the new assistant fire chief at the recent Board of Alderman meeting. Lewis, who has been with the Pedal Fire Department for years and has 20 years of fire service experience, expressed his excitement and honor for the new role. Fire Chief Maran Sim praised Lewis for successfully completing a rigorous selection process. Additionally, two new recruits were sworn in and will begin next week. Sim mentioned that while the department currently has no vacancies, opportunities might arise in the future. Applications can be submitted at Pedal City Hall from Monday to Friday.
Fire chief Marion Sims said Will Lewis proved himself after the department spent weeks looking for the right person.
