Jury deliberates in trial of man accused of killing two near Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade
SUMMARY: The trial of a man accused of killing two people near the housing Patty's parade last year has concluded, with jury deliberations now underway. The state highlighted inconsistencies in the testimony of the accused, Jordan Cummings, who appeared disoriented and fearful in a police interview after the 2023 shooting, initially claiming he was previously shot in Jackson but later stating it was in Pearl. Video surveillance captured the shooting that killed Joshua Span and Jubilee Simpkins. Cummings claimed self-defense, asserting he aimed at Span and Jamari Russell, who allegedly pointed guns at him. He faces two counts of first-degree murder.
