Pink Might be the New Orange
SUMMARY: This fall, Mississippi hunters can wear pink hunting vests instead of traditional orange safety gear, following the bipartisan House Bill 526. Sponsored by Republican Randy Rushing and Democrat Jeffrey Hulum, and presented by first-year legislator Jimmy Fondren, the bill aims to encourage female hunters and enhance apparel options. Fondren, who presented the bill while wearing a pink vest, hopes it inspires others. The law mandates that vests have 500 square inches of โunbroken fluorescent pinkโ and went into effect on July 1 after receiving overwhelming legislative support. Mississippi joins several states in allowing this color choice for hunting safety.
