Highlighting History: “Brutality in Winona” becomes latest Freedom Trail marker

The marker highlights the brutality on June 9, 1963, when civil rights workers were beaten after being arrested at the Montgomery County Jail. Speakers at the unveiling included surviving member Yester Simpson, who recounted the harrowing ordeal. The marker is located on North Applegate Street, and further details are available in the community tab on their website.
