New greenspace coming to Jackson
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Archives and History (MDAH) has taken ownership of the former Eudora Welty Library on State Street in downtown Jackson. The library will be demolished to create Margaret and Crigler Park, funded by a $1 million donation from retired businessman Noble Crigler in honor of his late wife. The park will feature an event stage, food truck area, festival street, and children‘s section, serving as a gateway to downtown Jackson and the Two Mississippi Museums. MDAH aims to enhance the city‘s appeal, with the project slated for completion in 2026.
