The Jackson Fire Department reported that fallen trees destroyed a woman’s roof, sparking a fire. Antonio McKinnis, a resident on Will O Wisp Way, experienced similar damage, with a fallen tree collapsing onto his home and his neighbor’s. The same tree later caused a fire on the neighbor’s property. Both families are seeking shelter while removal work continues. McKinnis expressed relief that the problematic tree is gone but lamented the circumstances. Despite the damage, no injuries were reported, and more rain is expected tomorrow.

MUW partners with hospital for new nursing program

Escapee captured, ending manhunt

SUMMARY: The manhunt for 26-year-old Jaccory Carr, an escapee from the Wilkinson County Jail, has officially ended with his capture, announced on social media. Carr, a pre-trial detainee facing charges of murder and aggravated assault, escaped around 7:30 PM last night. Authorities have reached out to Capitol Police for more information but have not yet received a response.
