Hinds County residents attend solar farm meeting
SUMMARY: Around 200 residents attended a meeting about the Soul City Solar Project, with over half voicing concerns. Attendees had 15 minutes to ask questions, which Apex Energy, the project's parent company, then addressed. The atmosphere was tense, partly due to the AC being turned off for better hearing. Only about 100 people could enter, leaving many unable to express their concerns. The project would use 4,000 to 6,000 acres of private land between Raymond and Bolton. The Hinds County Zoning Board advanced the motion, with a vote set for June 17th. Entergy, a potential energy buyer, confirmed no plans to purchase power from the project.
