MHP: 4 deaths, 135 crashes reported over Memorial Day enforcement period

The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued 7,026 citations, arrested 118 for impaired driving, and cited 864 for seatbelt violations over the four-day stretch. This year’s numbers show nearly 2,000 fewer citations and one less fatal wreck compared to the previous year. Fatal crashes occurred in Benton, Tunica, Itawamba, and Harrison counties. Victims included Dwight Holcomb in Benton, Jhajuan Milan in Tunica, and Kenneth Cook in Itawamba. Troopers noted a significant reduction in overall citations and fatal crashes this year.
