WCBI/MSU Storm Chase Day 11 Recap – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: After a short travel day, storm chasers in Oklahoma City, OK, visited the National Weather Center in Norman, led by SPC Deputy Director Bill Bunting. They toured the facilities, which include weather research entities and iconic items like “Dorothy” from the 1996 film Twister. Later, in Clinton, OK, they launched a weather balloon to study the storm’s environment. The chasers observed several storms merging into a supercell, which produced multiple tornadoes, including an EF-2 rated tornado with 120 mph winds. They captured images of the tornado and noted its erratic movement as it became rain-wrapped.
