HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: State Championship update
SUMMARY: In the 2024 baseball state championships in Pearl, both South Coast teams had a day off on Thursday before resuming play on Friday. In 5A, Van Cleave lost a 12-inning game to Lefay, 8-7, making Friday's match against the Commodores a must-win. In 6A, George County secured a narrow victory, moving one win away from the state title. Rebel head coach Brandon Davis credited their success to small-ball tactics, emphasizing pressure and chaos to compensate for a less effective top lineup. Davis highlighted the players' ability to disrupt opponents and the team's adaptability as key factors in their success.
