A popular attraction visited the National Park in Vicksburg: Douglas Baum and his family's camels, sharing the story of ‘Old Douglas,' the only camel to die in the Civil War. July 4th marked the siege of Vicksburg's end, where ‘Old Douglas' served the 43rd Mississippi Infantry by carrying their regimental band. The reenactment aims to engage young people in history.
