St. Patrick’s Monumental Softball Season Comes To An End As Lady Irish Fall In 3A State Title Series

SUMMARY: The St. Patrick Lady Irish had an impressive 2024 season, culminating in a showdown for the Class 3A championship against the Mantachie Lady Mustangs. The , held at the Southern Miss Softball Complex in Hattiesburg, saw Mantachie sweeping St. Patrick with a commanding 13-0 win in the first and a tighter 7-5 victory in the second. Ramsey Montgomery, a standout for Mantachie and two-time 3A Miss Softball, shone brightly, pitching a no-hitter in the opener and securing the win in the next game. Mantachie finished their season with a stellar 32-5 record. St. Patrick, overcoming initial nerves and adjustments to new coaching, displayed growth and resilience throughout the season, ending as the 3A state runner-up with a 23-14 record. Their performance against Mantachie and other higher-classified teams throughout the season highlighted their tenacity and the team’s under new leadership and challenging circumstances.

Pearl River’s first-ever women’s golf team set for debut

SUMMARY: Pearl Community College will debut its first-ever women’s golf team on Monday and Tuesday, becoming one of three community colleges in Mississippi to do so. Head coach Coby Scarborough expressed excitement about leading the team, which comprises six skilled golfers chosen from tryouts. The team will participate in the MACCC preview at Tunica National. Players Maya Morelos and Courtney Brewer are expected to leadership, with Brewer being a seasoned transfer.
