Wins and losses highlighted at annual Post Legislative briefing
SUMMARY: $130 million is set to be allocated to Coast projects, with $89 million going to new ventures in south Mississippi. Lawmakers spoke at a post-legislative briefing, describing the session as a political football. The session lasted longer than usual, with a focus on education funding and a new funding formula for predictability and sustainability. Medicaid issues were discussed, with plans to revisit them next year. Coastal insurance and other topics were also addressed, with hopes that positive momentum from the session will carry into the future. The event was sponsored by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Golden Nugget Casino.
Tuesday's Post Legislative briefing gave state lawmakers a chance to discuss what went right and wrong during the 2024 Legislative Session in Jackson.

Manhunt underway for murder suspect in Harrison County
SUMMARY: Tonight on WLX News, a manhunt is underway in Harrison County for 23-year-old Bryson Rivers, wanted for murder. Multiple agencies are searching the Wolf River Cemetery area on Cemetery Road. At around 3:00 PM, authorities found a vehicle belonging to a missing Hattiesburg woman, with a man seen fleeing the scene. Police later discovered a woman's body inside the vehicle. Rivers was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. Viewers are urged to contact the Harrison County Sheriff's Office with any information on Rivers' whereabouts. City of Ocean Springs hosts Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks
