Severe storm aftermath

Fire contained quickly in Lamar County Friday
SUMMARY: A house fire occurred near Baxterville in Lamar County amidst thunderstorms in the Pine Belt area. Officials do not suspect foul play and believe a lightning strike may have caused the fire. This assumption is based on homeowner reports and continuous lightning strikes during firefighting efforts. Firefighters managed to quickly contain the blaze, resulting in minimal visible damage to the exterior of the home. No injuries were reported.

Marion County school supply drive seeking donors
