Boil water notice lifted in Jackson following storm-related power outage

SUMMARY: Jackson, Mississippi residents have been notified by JXN Water that they can resume normal water usage as the boil water advisory has been lifted. The advisory was initially issued after severe storms on Thursday night caused a power outage at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant in Ridgeland. Ted Henifin, the interim third-party manager for JXN Water, expressed gratitude for the patience of the community and the efforts of staff. He credited the swift recovery to the work and knowledge acquired over the past year. Henifin also acknowledged the Mississippi State Department of Health‘s laboratory staff for their timely work, and noted that plans are being made with Entergy to ensure backup power capacity for the plant in the event of future severe weather.

Sam Mosley, a celebrated Mississippi blues musician, passed away on September 20 at the age of 78 in New Albany. Born in Union County in 1946, he gained fame as part of the duo Sam and Bob & The Soulmen, releasing albums including Mississippi Mud (1971) and Premium (1989). After the death of his partner, Bob Johnson, in 1998, Mosley continued to perform and honor Johnson’s family with royalties. Known for hits like “Never Let You Go,” he left a significant legacy in blues music and worked in materials management for 34 years. Funeral arrangements are pending.
