New Horizon Church International, one of the largest churches in Jackson, plans to sell their current building and buy Wingfield High School from Jackson Public Schools as part of a consolidation plan. The church has been located in an old grocery store for the last 15 years and wants to prevent the high school building from falling into disrepair. Bishop Ronnie Crudup Sr., a member of the committee advising JPS on repurposing closing schools, believes there is no conflict of interest and plans to recuse himself from voting on the matter.
