Next Up: Taking control of your career
SUMMARY: The “Where do you see yourself in five years?” question can intimidate young professionals, particularly when it follows major life changes like relocation. The key is understanding that there are no bad opportunities—success lies in proactive networking and development. Joining professional groups and seeking mentorship can propel career growth. For example, participating actively in a Young Professionals organization led to a chance meeting with a future employer. It’s essential to seek out and take control of opportunities, setting goals, and embracing smaller steps that can lead to significant advances.
