10 Years Later: Doctor looks back on day when saving a life took on a new meaning
SUMMARY: Ten years ago, an EF4 tornado ripped through Lewisville, claiming 10 lives and causing significant damage to the City, including the Winston County Hospital. In a recent interview, Dr. Michael Ard shared his experience being inside the hospital during the tornado, witnessing the destruction of the emergency room and the heroic efforts of the medical staff to save patients. Despite the devastation, the community came together to rebuild, and the hospital reopened in 2017 as a state-of-the-art medical center. The remaining fragment of the original hospital serves as a reminder of their resilience. The journey from destruction to recovery is a testament to the strength and unity of the community.
