Woman sentenced for embezzling from Brandon High band booster funds

SUMMARY: Donna Gladney Floyd from Rankin County, Mississippi, was to 20 years in the custody of the MDOC after pleading guilty to embezzling $45,000 from the Brandon High School band booster funds. She will serve five years in prison followed by five years of probation, and has been ordered to pay court costs, restitution, and investigative fees. Floyd was to go to trial in 2024 but pled guilty in April 2024. Her arrest in 2023 followed an investigation prompted by the Rankin County School District and Brandon High School .

Three men arrested in Mississippi after police find $115,000 in fraudulent checks

SUMMARY: Three from Florida were in Richland, Mississippi, after more than $115,000 in fraudulent checks were intercepted by authorities on October 29. conducted a traffic stop and discovered 20 forged checks, along with $3,500 in cash and marijuana in their vehicle. The suspects, Raymond Varona Garcia (20), Darian Jesus Caceres (24), and Jahiron Boloy Valdes (26), were attempting to cash the checks while traveling to . They face charges of felony possession of counterfeit instruments. Investigators are in contact with multiple victims from Ohio, Texas, and Florida, with one lost $29,000 previously to the group.
