6 Columbia athletes honored as “Hometown Heroes”
SUMMARY: Walter Payton has always been a notable name from Columbia, but in recent years, a number of talented athletes have also emerged from the city. Six athletes were recognized at “The Yards” sports complex to inspire the next generation of athletes in Marion County. Many of these athletes, including NFL players like Jonathan Abram and Logan Cooke, have had successful careers and continue to excel in their respective sports. The athletes from Columbia reflect on their time playing in local parks and express pride in their accomplishments, inspiring others to pursue their dreams in sports.

Weatherford aims to defend his title and secure another trophy.

Wellness Wednesday: Breast cancer screenings are critical
SUMMARY: North Mississippi Health Services has become the official sponsor of the “Wellness Wednesday” segment, focusing on health awareness. In light of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Danny Sanders, director of the breast program at North Mississippi Medical Center, discussed advancements in breast cancer care. Dr. Sanders underscored the importance of early screening, starting at age 40, especially for those with a family history of breast cancer, due to the increasing number of younger patients diagnosed. Enhanced imaging techniques like 3D mammography have significantly improved early detection.
