Mississippi AG joins coalition against assault rifle ban
SUMMARY: Mississippi’s attorney general is joining 28 other state attorneys general in an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court regarding Maryland’s ban on various assault rifles, including the AR-15. These firearms have been involved in numerous deadly attacks. A gun owner supports the attorney general’s stance, arguing that banning guns from law-abiding citizens is unconstitutional and undermines the Second Amendment, which protects the right to bear arms. He emphasized that the term AR refers to ArmaLite, the company that produced the rifle in 1954. The attorney general believes the Fourth Circuit Court’s decision undermines individual rights.

Interview: Nurse Practitioner Paige Sanders explains Parkinson's Disease
SUMMARY: Retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre announced his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis while testifying about welfare reform in Congress. Neurology consultant Paige Sanders discussed Parkinson’s, a progressive movement disorder caused by the breakdown of nerve cells in the brain, leading to decreased dopamine levels. Symptoms include resting tremors, shuffling gait, stiffness, and difficulties with daily tasks. While head injuries may increase athletes’ risk for Parkinson’s, most cases are idiopathic. There’s no cure, and treatments mainly involve medications and therapies to manage symptoms. Athletes, particularly older males, are at higher risk, but Parkinson’s affects a broad range of individuals.
