Mississippi sees low voter turnout for 2024 primary
SUMMARY: Mississippi Secretary of State Michael Watson recently expressed concerns about the low voter turnout in the state’s 2024 Presidential Primary. Watson and his team visited polling locations to ensure election laws were being followed, especially after a ballot shortage issue in Hinds County last year. Watson emphasized the importance of bottom-up organization in the state’s election process, citing the need for better communication and training among election officials. He also highlighted the potential threats of AI technology and deep fakes in elections, proposing legislation to address these issues and improve protections for voters, especially seniors.
