Sumrall High art class brings 1st-graders' imaginations to life
SUMMARY: Sumrall High School’s art class received help from elementary school students in creating 3D ceramic monsters. The art teacher, Lissa Ortego, started the program four years ago, making it the only ceramics class in the Lamar County School District. The high schoolers were touched by the experience and found it rewarding to create something based on the designs of others. This program helped the students develop their creativity and imagination while learning about ceramics. Overall, it was a humbling and inspiring experience for the young artists in Sumrall.

RSV can be serious threat to young children and elderly this time of year
SUMMARY: As fall arrives, respiratory viruses like RSV are on the rise, causing concern, especially among vulnerable populations such as young children and the elderly. RSV can present as a mild cold in healthy individuals but may lead to severe symptoms like wheezing and shortness of breath in those at higher risk. While the cause of increased RSV cases varies yearly, vaccinations are available for at-risk groups, including the elderly, those with health conditions, and pregnant women. Preventive measures include handwashing and avoiding sick individuals, as symptoms may linger for 5 to 7 days.
