Golden Triangle Regional Airport to host TSA Precheck enrollment
SUMMARY: The Golden Triangle Regional Airport in Mississippi is hosting TSA PreCheck enrollment from July 15 to 19. The enrollment center, located on the second floor of the Passenger Terminal, will accept appointments from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Enrolling takes about 10 minutes, and applicants must be fingerprinted and undergo a background check. For a $78 fee, travelers can avoid removing shoes, laptops, belts, and jackets at security for five years. Applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number within 30 days. Fourth of July fireworks shows
SUMMARY: Across north Mississippi and west Alabama, various Fourth of July celebrations include fireworks displays this evening and throughout the weekend. Starkville hosts festivities at Cornerstone Park from 4 p.m., with fireworks at 9 p.m. The West Point Country Club features events from 1 p.m. and fireworks at dusk. Aberdeen High School's family reunion includes music and fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Smithville's Sparks in the Park runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Other locations like Pontotoc, Sherman Park, Saltillo City Park, Ballard Park in Tupelo, and Millport, Alabama, also host similar celebrations with fireworks. Single-vehicle accident leaves one person dead near MUW
SUMMARY: A Columbus man, Johnny Kenyatta Elliott, 43, died in a car accident near MUW on Wednesday night shortly before 9 p.m. Elliott was driving an SUV north on 15th Street when it left the roadway and struck a fence column.
