Barnes Drive fire in Jones County covered an estimated 40 acres
SUMMARY: Multiple wildfires have been burning throughout the state and near the Pine Belt area. Efforts are being made to fully extinguish these fires with the help of several fire departments and the Mississippi Forestry Commission. Jones County officials are also working to extinguish multiple fires in the area. Firefighters responded to numerous calls regarding out-of-control brush and yard fires. Updates are expected as more details become available about the size and status of these fires. Firefighters are working hard to contain the blazes and prevent further damage.

Five connected to sexual assault charges in Laurel
