New program teaches high school students how to fly drones
SUMMARY: 27th AND ONE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 3RD. PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN ABOUT DRONE SAFETY, OPERATION, AND REGULATIONS, AS WELL AS HAVE THE CHANCE TO OPERATE DRONES THEMSELVES. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS PRESENTED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION CENTER AND FUNDED BY THE EPA. THE PROGRAM AIMS TO EDUCATE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON AVIATION AND ENGINEERING, WITH THE HOPE OF EXPANDING THE PROGRAM TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND HIGH SCHOOLS. THE PROGRAM ALSO OFFERS SESSIONS FOR FREE DRONE OPERATOR TRAINING TO THE PUBLIC.
The Mississippi State University Extension Center introduced high school students to operating drones.

Murder victim’s father alleges years of abuse by boyfriend, claims judicial system failed daughte…
SUMMARY: In Nashville, a woman expressed her fear in court that her abuser would kill her if released. Despite multiple violent incidents, he was released without informing her or placing a GPS monitor on him. Shortly after, he went missing, prompting the woman's father, Lance, to warn her. Lauren, the victim, stopped responding to messages, and her Life 360 tracker was turned off. Her body was later found brutally beaten in her car at a cemetery. Lance condemned the criminal justice system for its failures. The abuser, Rivers, has a criminal history and is currently in jail on a $1 million bond.
Thursday, Lauren Johansen's mutilated body was discovered in the back seat of her car in Harrison County.

UPDATE: Murder victim identified, suspect arrested following manhunt in Harrison County
SUMMARY: Welcome to the 4:00 show, I'm Dave Elliot, and I'm Karen Abery. Harrison County coroner Brian Switzer has identified the body found in a vehicle at Wolf River Cemetery as 22-year-old Lauren Johansson from Gulfport. 23-year-old Bryson John Rivers has been charged with her murder and was arrested after a six-hour manhunt. Sheriff Matt Haley stated that deputies spotted Rivers fleeing towards the woods after responding to a welfare concern. Johansson's body was discovered in the vehicle. Rivers is being held on a $1 million bond. More details, including an interview with Johansson's father, will be on WLX News at 6.
After multiple agencies carried out an hours-long manhunt for a murder suspect in Harrison County, he was arrested Wednesday night.
