DeSoto County trio could face up to 50 years each for PPP fraud

SUMMARY: Three DeSoto County residents, Zipora Hudson, Montreal Hudson, and Deandre Jones, are in custody for allegedly conspiring to fraudulently obtain loans from the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) during the COVID-19 pandemic. They face charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to money laundering, and money laundering. The illicit activities involved falsifying PPP loan applications and carrying out wire transfers with the obtained funds. If convicted, each could face up to 30 years for fraud-related charges and 20 years for money laundering. The IRS Criminal Investigation Division investigated the case, with the Northern District of Mississippi’s U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuting.
