SUMMARY: Eleven people have died related to the severe winter weather in Mississippi, which brought an arctic cold blast. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reported deaths from multiple counties, including Panola, Humphreys, Leflore, Rankin, Sharkey, Sunflower, and Washington. The causes ranged from fatal car crashes due to icy conditions to slipping on ice and hypothermia. One of the recent fatalities occurred on Highway 51 in Panola County. Most of the deaths since January 14 have involved vehicle-related incidents. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating these events.

Kemper County woman locked up for recording sexual encounter with minor

Memphis community activist sentenced for role in Mississippi bid-rigging scheme
