Tupelo teacher proves hard work can bring lasting results

SUMMARY: Thomas Street music teacher, Lee Anne Barnes, is known for pushing her students to do their best and she applies that same dedication to her long-distance running. She recently represented Team TCS in the New York City Marathon. Barnes has overcome her own struggles with weight and health and has completed 37 half marathons in 17 states. Her dedication to running also inspires and motivates her students, showing them that they can accomplish difficult tasks. She completed the Chicago marathon a month before the New York marathon. Barnes hopes her story encourages others to make healthy choices and set and accomplish their own goals and also dedicates the marathon to her classes at Thomas Street Elementary.

Man wanted in South Carolina is arrested in Columbus

SUMMARY: Josfat Salomon Martinez, also known as Miguel Sierra, was arrested in Lowndes County, Mississippi, after being tracked from South Carolina, where he was wanted for Exploitation of a Minor. He had four outstanding warrants for the crime. On October 31, detectives found two cell phones in his possession containing explicit images and videos of children being sexually abused. Martinez admitted the phones were his and was charged with two counts of Child Exploitation, with a bond set at $250,000. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming, according to Sheriff Eddie Hawkins.
