Wayne County offers amnesty period for unpaid fines
SUMMARY: The Wayne County Justice Court is launching an amnesty program to help people pay off delinquent fines while also focusing on collecting unpaid revenue. The program will reduce fines by 30 percent and close all active warrants, as long as payments are made in full. The goal is to help people stay out of jail and alleviate the burden of paying fines. The court hopes that closing out warrants will relieve pressure on the sheriff’s department. The program will run from January 15th to March 29th, and anyone owing delinquent traffic and misdemeanor fines is eligible to enroll. For more information, contact the Wayne County Justice Court.
