Southern Miss football announces additional coaching hires
SUMMARY: The Southern Miss coaching staff, led by Will Hall, has added new assistants. Ex-Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chip Long and Eastern Illinois defensive coordinator Clay Bignell were recently hired. Micheal Spurlock, now handling running backs, brings NFL playing and coaching experience to Southern Miss. Previously, Spurlock played for several NFL teams and coached at various levels, including high school and college. Fred Wyatt has also joined as defensive line coach, having had a successful season at Eastern Illinois. Wyatt is recognized for his defensive expertise and past coaching roles, including a stint at Missouri Western and learning under his father at Kansas State.

McClellan leaving MVSU athletics with positive momentum
SUMMARY: Hakim McClellan is leaving Mississippi Valley State after two years as the athletic director to return to Jackson State as the deputy athletic director under Ashley Robinson. McGee misses out on Olympic bid but earns personal best at trials

New laws enacted on July 1 that Mississippians should know about
