SUMMARY: Jones County enforcement reports an uptick in vehicle crashes along Highway 84, with responding to 11 incidents in the last two weeks. Many crashes result from driver distractions, like cell phone use and speeding over the 65 mph limit. Fire departments often arrive first at scenes, noting that high-impact collisions usually indicate excessive speed as a factor. Recent crashes have led to severe injuries, prompting lane closures and increased pressure on emergency responders, who are currently operating at reduced manpower. Authorities urge drivers to minimize distractions and adhere to speed limits for safety.
