Meteorologist Trey Tonnessen: “Straight Up Cold” 10PM Forecast

Published

SUMMARY: The weather across the Mississippi Gulf Coast is calm and tranquil, with cold conditions continuing into the evening and overnight. Temperatures are in the mid-30s, with the possibility of patchy frost in the morning. Winds are mostly calm, with a shift to southeasterly winds expected tomorrow. A frontal system is forecasted to bring showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, with the potential for severe weather due to a moist environment. The high pressure system will drop to the east, bringing the calm and beautiful weather into tomorrow, but the weekend may see some weather changes.

Wednesday December 6th, 2023: Throughout this workweek, the Mississippi Gulf coast has seen stability in multiple facets of the atmosphere and weather enterprise. Tonight, (Wednesday Night) will be no exception. A clear night across the southeastern region will once again persist. As this is the case, cloud cover being absent from the Gulf Coast will allow much of our collected daytime heat to escape rapidly after the sun goes down. The result of this will be temperature lows in south Mississippi hanging around 35 degrees on Wednesday night. As I explained in tonight’s forecast (attached above), the calm winds will also assist in our cooling setup. After tonight, our focus in the weather enterprise quickly shifts to Saturday, which is when the Mississippi Gulf Coast and WXXV viewing area will watch the potential for severe weather development after the midday time frame. As always: A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition. Be nice to each other. — Meteorologist Trey Tonnessen —

SUMMARY: Long Beach leaders have approved an agreement to develop a casino on the former Kmart property, a deal nearly ten years in the making. The Long Beach Board of Aldermen unanimously granted a 40-year lease to Long Beach Harbor Resorts, owned by Jim Parish, who also runs a restaurant at the harbor. Construction must begin within three years and the casino must open within five. Mayor George Bass emphasizes this might be the city’s only chance for a casino, which he believes could boost the local economy and provide funds for the school district, alongside a million dollars for first responder infrastructure.

In the next five years, a casino could be opened in Long Beach.
