MS sheriff’s office cares for nearly 30 dogs after dog fighting ring busted
SUMMARY: The Panola County Sheriff’s Office busted a major dog fighting operation, seizing nearly 30 bait dogs in Como, Mississippi. Damien Smoot was arrested and charged with felony dog fighting. The sheriff’s office is caring for the dogs and is concerned about their future well-being. Frantic pet owners have reported missing dogs, like Heather Dees, who is hoping her dog Lenny, missing since November 9, is among those seized. Sheriff Phelps urges anyone missing a dog to bring a picture of the dog and contact information to the sheriff’s office. He hopes to find a place to hold the dogs, potentially for adoption.
