SUMMARY: The President and CEO of the Mississippi State University Foundation, John Rush, is trying to increase alumni donations to the university, as the number of alumni giving back has been declining. He wants more of the university’s 161,000 living alumni to get involved in volunteering, offering their time, and investing financially. Rush emphasizes the role that donors play in shaping the university’s future by funding scholarships, attracting top scholars, supporting faculty, and investing in researching the economy of Mississippi. He also highlights the importance of donations in maintaining the campus and bringing students to MSU to continue the tradition of giving back. Rush’s top priority is fundraising for scholarships, especially for low-income and high-achieving students, and he is excited about a recent $1 million donation from George and Kathy Bishop for Mississippi students to get an education at MSU.
