Laurel organizations feed seniors hot meals

SUMMARY: Several in Laurel teamed up to feed senior citizens in a small community for Thanksgiving. Keaundria Milloy, who was there, shared how the organizers made it happen. The Glory House of Laurel, with Thanksgiving just two days away, ensured community members could have a happy one with a hot plate of food. The organization partnered with the First United Methodist Church of Laurel, going door to door to feed of Arco Lane homes. The organizers passed out the meals and greeted the residents. This collaborative effort provided a Thanksgiving meal for those in need, bringing joy and gratitude to the community.

The Glory House of Laurel partnered with the First United Methodist Church of Laurel and the Laurel Housing Authority to feed residents of Arco Lane Homes.

Special Olympics Mississippi's Fall Games open at Camp Shelby

SUMMARY: Approximately 400 athletes are participating in the Special Olympics Mississippi Fall Games at Camp Shelby. The Opening Ceremonies included a parade of athletes and a speech by Senator Roger Wicker. Tomorrow’s competitions will feature such as softball, croquet, horseshoes, and soccer skills. Attendees can enjoy snow cones, coffee trucks, and a petting zoo, along with screenings available in large tents. The aims to comprehensive for the athletes. The games will conclude with closing ceremonies and a Victory Day celebration tomorrow night.

Remains found in Marion County believed to be missing Columbia man, sheriffโ€™s office says

SUMMARY: The remains of a man missing for over a year may have been found, according to the Sheriff’s Office. A vehicle belonging to 79-year-old Delmare Lee Blake Jr., reported missing in August of last year, was discovered in a wooded area of the Lampton Community. Investigators from the Maran County Sheriff’s Office and Columbia Department searched the area and found human remains, which have been sent to a lab for identification. The Sheriff’s Office believes the remains are those of Mr. Blake, and no foul play is suspected as the investigation continues.

MCSO said the remains have been sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab for identification, but they are believed to be those of Blake.
