SUMMARY: An Uber driver, referred to as Rosalind, led police on a dangerous chase across South Mississippi after picking up a passenger named Regio Lavant in New Orleans. Rosalind sensed something was wrong from the start, and her ordeal escalated when she heard a gun being cocked in her backseat. Fearing for her life, Rosalind devised a plan to call 911 under the pretense of her car needing air. As the situation unfolded, Lavant fled in her car, driving on the wrong side of the interstate and nearly causing multiple accidents. Eventually, he crashed and tried to escape, but was apprehended with the help of a K9 unit. Rosalind, grateful to be alive, is reconsidering her part-time job as an Uber driver. Lavant, from Moss Point, is now detained at the Harrison County Detention Center on multiple felony charges, including carjacking and assault on a police officer, with a bond set at $250,000.

A nightmarish Uber ride unfolded in South Mississippi on Thursday morning when a passenger pulled out a handgun, stole the vehicle.
